Country Kickback Celebrates Rural Roots!
Calgary, AB – Western Canada’s rural history comes to life at Heritage Park’s Country Kickback, Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This fun-filled salute to agriculture includes hands-on activities, live entertainment, games and a variety of demonstrations.
Try your hand at making rope, churning butter and hand-cranking old-fashioned ice-cream. Spin your partner round at a barn dance and visit the critters at the Butterfield Acres petting zoo. Gather a team and compete in the Kickback Challenge. Complete a series of fun activities including a bucket brigade and egg find for your chance to win great prizes!
Enjoy lively entertainment throughout the day, courtesy of the Chinook Country Line Dancers and the Prairie Mountain Fiddlers.
Watch antique steam-powered farm equipment at work threshing and baling in the wheat field, and don’t miss the wheat grinding demonstrations, slow tractor races and a beautiful display of work by the Chinook Guild of Fibre Arts. New this year is a sheep shearing demonstration and a sheep to shawl competition on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Watch as groups face off in a challenging task to turn freshly sheared wool into a woven shawl by the end of the day!
