Shop the Old West

The Historical Village offers a shopping experience that can only be found 100 years in the past. Seven period appropriate shops are located throughout the village, and house everything from old fashioned candy to stunning antiques. Stop in and say “hello” to the friendly and knowledgeable costumed shop keeps – they’ll be sure to catch you up on the local town gossip as you browse.

Botsford Harness Shop

The local harness shop, which was usually the first business to open its doors in prairie settlements, often doubled as the general store. The Botsford Harness Shop, first constructed in 1906, features unique gift items, figurines, jewellery, hats, dolls, cast-iron creations, wooden toys and more

I.G. Baker and Company

Before the Canadian Pacific Railway had reached the West, I.G. Baker was the official supplier to the North West Mounted Police, and held a virtual trade monopoly on the region’s settlements. On the current I.G. Baker shelves, you’ll find stick candy, wooden toys, jams and more.

Post Office and Telephone Exchange

Settlers in the Canadian West were often isolated from friends and family and waited months for correspondence that had travelled via ship, rail and/or bull train to reach its destination. Heritage Park visitors can purchase stamps and postcards, and mail them on the spot.
