Privacy Statement
Personal privacy is very important to us. We are dedicated to protecting personal privacy and safeguarding personal information in our care. Our systems and procedures are designed to prevent loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or alteration of personal information. Only authorized staff and service providers of Heritage Park have access to Personal Information.
Service providers assist us with various services, such as printing, mail distribution, information services and the administration of insurance, pension, medical and dental benefits. Where personal information is provided, we will require service providers to protect the information in a manner that is consistent with our privacy policies and practices.
Privacy Principles
On January 1, 2004, Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) came into effect. The Privacy Act is based on ten privacy principles that relate to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in business ventures:
1. Heritage Park shall appoint one or more individuals accountable for its compliance with the Privacy Act and responsible for maintaining and protecting personal information under its control.
2. The purpose for collecting personal information shall be identified at the time of collection.
3. Personal information will be collected, used and disclosed with the consent of the individual, except where required by law. Consent may be expressed in writing, verbally, electronically, through a representative or implied.
4. Personal information collected shall be limited to that which is necessary for the identified purposes.
5. Personal information will only be used or disclosed for the purposes for which it was collected, unless an individual has otherwise consented or as permitted by law.
6. Personal information will be as accurate, complete and up-to-date as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.
7. Heritage Park will safeguard personal information with security measures that are reasonable and appropriate to the sensitivity level of the personal information.
8. Information about our privacy policy is available upon request.
9. On written request to our Privacy Officer, an individual will be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their personal information that is in our possession. Individuals are entitled to access their own information, as permitted by law, to verify the accuracy and completeness of the information, and request amendments if appropriate.
10. Questions or enquiries concerning compliance with privacy policies will be directed to the Privacy Officer.
