Witness the pageantry and excitement as the Strathcona Mounted Troop bring history to life with their legendary Musical Ride.
20 Canadian Forces Soldiers dressed in 1920s period uniforms and mounted on horseback will perform a spectacular 35 minute musical ride and tent pegging demonstration. The Strathcona Mounted Troop is committed to presenting our “living history” and an active display of a unique part of our national heritage which is enjoyed by thousands of Canadians each year.

Learn how steam is created as the locomotive "takes on water" and see the spectacle of our double-headed Steam Engine, Heritage Park is one of the few sites in North America that has two steam locomotives. See the spectacular model railway exhibits and unique demonstrations, activities and kids crafts in the Rail Pavillion. Visit the Roundhouse for turntable demonstrations and take a behind-the-scenes tour of a locomotive cab. Don’t miss the Canadian Pacific Railway Police Service Train Pull Competition in support of the Special Olympics, taking place on Sunday!

Canadian Diaries – Canadian documentary Films
August 26
In August 2010, the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers and Heritage Park Historical Village will present Canadian Diaries, an exhibition of historical and contemporary Canadian documentary films.
The program will consist of the seminal Canadian feature film, Pour La Suite du Monde, along with two shorts programs.
The project will showcase independent Canadian documentaries, and explore the historical and contemporary traditions of the genre as an intrinsic part of Canadian culture.
They will deal with Canadian identity, explore landscape and culture, and the creation of self through them.

During this hands-on, 2 1/2 hour course you will gain knowledge and experience the brewing process: recipe formulation, weighing out malted grains and hops, grain milling, mashing, sparging, boiling and cooling wort, pitching hops, handling brewers yeast, fermentation, and packaging beer. Learn about the specific type of beer that you will be brewing. Enjoy appetizers and a beer tasting of commercial samples similar to the beer that is being produced. Best of all, four weeks after the course is finished, you will pick up a 500 ml sample of beer from Heritage Park that you personally brewed at the course.
