Head of Fund Development

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a successful record of managing donor relations and major fundraising programs. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Heritage Park’s comprehensive fund development program that will build awareness and raise funds in support of the mission and vision of Heritage Park.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and manages annual and ongoing campaigns to raise money for the Heritage Park Society and the Heritage Park Foundation including but not limited to annual giving, planned giving, events, endowments, sponsorships, partnerships, gifts in kind, grants, gaming, individual and corporate donations
  • Ensures funding priorities are identified through discussions with management and researches and identifies grant opportunities to other departments as appropriate
  • Provides ongoing evaluations of the effectiveness of fundraising initiatives and implements improvements to these programs to improve net revenues 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with individual and corporate donors and government to ensure ongoing support of Heritage Park
  • Develops and manages donor and sponsor recognition programs
  • Participates as an active and supportive member of the senior management team to address global issues and develop long-term strategic plans
  • Works collaboratively with other areas of the organization in the development of communications, promotions and the delivery of the Fund Development programs and events
  • Provides effective leadership, supervision and support to the Fund Development team in order to foster a cohesive working environment and ensure the effective use of their talents to maximize net revenues 
  • Provides leadership and advice to the Fund Development Committee of the joint Boards as required for fundraising programs
  • Ensures database is current and maintained, tracking all gifts and donors, donor groupings, donor history, recognition and prospect information
  • Ensures compliance with Heritage Park and industry standards, regulations and laws
  • Issues tax receipts and business acknowledgements in a timely manner as appropriate while adhering to CRA guidelines for charitable activities and tax receipting at all times
  • Acts in compliance with AFP’s Donor Bill of Rights and Code of Ethical Principles and Standards
  • Acts as Duty Manager as required

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in business, fundraising or related field and at least five (5) years’ experience in a senior development role with leadership/management responsibilities
  • Current member of AFP with compliance to AFP’s Donor Bill of Rights and Code of Ethical Principles and Standards

Skills/Capabilities:

  • Recognized ability for developing successful donor relations and managing major fundraising programs
  • Strong people skills, superior verbal and written communication skills, and the proven ability to communicate persuasively
  • Demonstrated high levels of initiative and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge an asset
