Manager, Retail Operations

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Retail Operations. Reporting to the President & CEO, this position is responsible for ensuring the quality, success and profitability of all Heritage Park’s Retail Operations, as well as that the products and operations are consistent with Heritage Park’s mission, mandate, goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses market conditions and develops business plans, initiatives and targets for the Retail Operations Department that complement Heritage Park’s overall goals and direction
  • Formulates annual budgets and long-term forecasts and monitors progress on an ongoing basis
  • Participates as an active and supportive member of the senior management team to address global issues and develop long-term strategic plans
  • Sources, selects, purchases, brands, prices, displays, and controls all retail inventory; ensures an appropriate balance between well-stocked stores and appropriate inventory levels
  • Oversees the selection, orientation, scheduling and general supervision of Retail employees
  • Delegates work assignments to subordinates; provides direction, coaching and coordination as required; facilitates identification of subordinate’s objectives; confirms individual performance achievements and development needs on an ongoing basis
  • Ensures merchandise quantity, quality and prices meet Heritage Park’s standards and market demands
  • Promotes quality customer service and interpretation to meet established Heritage Park standards
  • Ensures stores’ standards are met and maintained (i.e. visuals, cleanliness, signage, safety, etc.)
  • Monitors assets through accurate inventory management procedures, including leadership of the annual retail physical inventory count and audit
  • Assesses all retail equipment and display needs and monitors operation, maintenance or replacement
  • Ensures sales staff maintain and record cash floats and sales revenue following established accounting procedures
  • Acts as Duty Manager as required
  • Performs other functions as required (i.e. merchandising, sales, etc.)

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field and at least five (5) years’ management responsibility in a specialty retail and/or multi-unit retail operation (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Purchasing and/or visual merchandising experience an asset

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to motivate staff to maximize sales and exceed customer expectations
  • Resourcefulness and adaptability to change and the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations are necessary as is the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated high levels of initiative and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong knowledge in logistics, warehouse management and receiving processes
