About the 1919 GMC Tanker

The “Rapid Motor Vehicle Company” designed some of the earliest commercial vehicles in  1901. This company merged with General Motors Corporation in 1909 to become GMC Truck.  In 1919, after providing trucks and light ambulances to the U. S. Military in World War I, the company unveiled its post-war truck line.  GMC tankers rapidly became very popular with gas companies and are still widely used to transport gasoline.
