30th Annual Railway Days Rolls Into Heritage Park
Calgary, AB – Heritage Park’s extensive rail history takes centre stage during the 30th annual Railway Days, presented by CP, September 24 and 25, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Train aficionados big and small will enjoy a full weekend of railway related activities, displays and demonstrations. Catch a rare glimpse of the turntable in action behind the Roundhouse both days and enjoy a once-a-year opportunity to tour the inside of the Park’s #2023 steam engine cab.
View the spectacular model train displays, and photography contest entries. Send a telegraph from one train station to another and enjoy an early morning gourmet breakfast and talk aboard the stationary 1920s River Forth Dining Car. Listen to fascinating stories of the rails and be serenaded by singing hobos. Take a ride aboard Heritage Park’s antique steam train or hand-car, CP’s mini-train, Puffer Belly or enjoy a special ride in a caboose.
Kids are invited to complete a series of fun, train-themed activities at this year’s Railway Days Challenge. They’ll get to discover the secret language of the hobo, learn how to be a conductor and much more!
This weekend is the last chance to purchase Engineer for a Day raffle tickets. One lucky winner and a guest will get to spend a day behind the scenes with a Heritage Park train engineer and fireman. They will get to assist in prepping and driving the train around the Park. After a morning’s work, they can relax with a delicious lunch in the Selkirk Grille Restaurant. Raffle tickets are $5 each, or five for $20.
