March 30, 2020 - Calgary, AB
In an ongoing effort to flatten the curve and reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our healthcare system, Heritage Park will remain closed to the public, and the cancellation of private and ticketed events will continue until further notice.
As a registered charity, this ongoing closure deeply impacts the long-term sustainability of the Park. In response, Heritage Park’s Board and Senior Management Team have developed a short-term plan to reduce and contain costs. This plan includes temporary lay-offs of employees, mandated vacation time usage, and other temporary arrangements. This decision was made after long and careful consideration.
Although our doors are closed to the public until further notice, select staff are still on hand taking care of our animals and protecting our valuable exhibits and artifacts. As the caretakers of our priceless western Canadian history we are taking every measure to ensure we continue to protect and maintain our assets during this unprecedented time. Our goal is to be ready to re-open to the public as soon as circumstances allow, and to be here for future generations.
If you would like to help support the long-term sustainability of Heritage Park, please consider making a charitable donation.

Effective immediately, Heritage Park will be temporarily closed to the public until further notice.
This includes Gasoline Alley Museum, the Wainwright Hotel, Railway Cafe, the Selkirk Grille and all retail shops.
This closure also includes the cancellation or postponement of all private bookings, public events, ticketed and food related events until further notice.
If you have questions about your private event booking, please contact our Catering & Sales team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Heritage Park staff have been continually monitoring the progression of the COVID-19 virus and closely adhering to the advice and guidelines provided by Alberta Health Services and the Public Health Agency of Canada. In light of the most recent information surrounding this unprecedented situation, the decision was made to close temporarily, with the wellbeing of our guests, staff, volunteers and community in mind.
Heritage Park is a charity that relies on support from the community and its stakeholders to remain open and operating. This decision to close was not made lightly. We would encourage our guests to postpone their private events to a later date, as opposed to cancelling. We also encourage current ticketed event holders to hang onto their tickets to use at a future 2020 event, (when applicable) and will offer them first pick on the new date of their choice.
Ticket holders may also choose to donate the value of their tickets to Heritage Park instead of seeking a refund. Unfortunately we are unable to issue tax receipts for this purpose.
Heritage Park’s administrative offices will remain open at a reduced capacity, and staff are available to answer any questions or concerns guests may have. We will be contacting all current ticket holders and event planners to discuss re-booking or refunds.
As the situation continues to evolve, Heritage Park will update any changes to this information. We look forward to reopening our gates as soon as possible and welcoming everyone back to the Park. Please stay safe and we can all get through these extraordinary times together.
