Enjoy Free Music in the Plaza, All Summer Long
July 4, 2016 – Calgary, AB – Heritage Park’s free summer concert series, Music in the Plaza, supported by the RBC Foundation, returns for a fifth season of spectacular live music, every Wednesday evening from July 6 to August 31, 2016.
Visitors will enjoy an array of live music, ranging from Jazz to Country, Rockabilly to Klezmer and everything in between. The free concerts get underway every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in Heritage Town Square.

July 6, 2016 - Reijo
As a band that has travelled the world and been influenced by a diversity of cultures and historical periods, Reijo’s songs are crafted with heart and purpose. The band uses strong, reflective lyrics balanced with melodic, ambient, shimmering guitars to find the soul of the listener.
July 13, 2016 - Heather Blush and the Uppercuts
This trio of rogue troubadours has a sound that is sassy, sultry and just plain fun. The band’s original songs, written by Heather blush, run the gamut from witty sarcasm to gut-wrenching honesty. This audience-engaging show is sure to leave a lasting impression.
July 20, 2016 - Deanne Matley
Deanne Matley has been described as a vocalist who has it all; unerring pitch, great timing, beautiful phrasing and most importantly, the ability to get inside a lyric and deliver a compelling story. She’s a world class artist, destined for great things.
July 27, 2016 - Midnight Lights
Presenting one of the hottest, up and coming country acts in Canada today. Midnight Lights features a dynamic and wide-ranging musical style that reflects not only the ability of the artists but the future of country music as well.
August 3, 2016 - Peter and the Wolves
Fronted by Howlin’ Pete Cormier, Calgary’s rockabilly prince, this exciting, 50s inspired group is truly a blast from the past! The band delivers a super feel good; shimmy and shake-it-up take on rockabilly, early rock and rhythm and blues.
August 10, 2016 - FuZe Fusion Band
Relatively new on the local music scene, this innovative group brings together a myriad of musical styles. They have a passion to inspire audiences and get them engaged in their music. This show is sure to please!
August 17, 2016 - Klezmer Doubleheader
Enjoy a special evening of music in celebration of the 100th birthday of Heritage Park’s Little Synagogue on the Prairie. This show features not one, but two of Calgary’s top Klezmer bands. The dynamic duo Fromage Chaud will start the proceedings, then, Zeev Berger and the Schmoozers take the stage. This promises to be one of the most high energy evenings the plaza has ever hosted.
August 24, 2016 - the June Bugs
From bluegrass, country, gospel, folk and even swing, the June Bugs are masters of many genres. They coalesce around a sweet acoustic sound and a joyful approach to singing that engulfs the entire audience.
August 31, 2016 - Clinton St. John
Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and lyricist Clinton St. John is first and foremost, a storyteller and builder of narrative landscapes. His modernist style can be described as folk with an avant-garde feel.
Visitors can pack a picnic and a blanket, pick up a light meal at the Railway Café, or reserve a table on the patio of the Selkirk Grille restaurant. Seating is available on the green space or at either of the two patios. Bring your families (but please leave your pets at home) meet new friends and enjoy a complimentary evening of music at Heritage Park Historical Village. All concerts will take place rain or shine, and will move indoors in case of inclement weather.
