A Train So Powerful, It Pulled The Nation Forward
Calgary, AB – An important piece of Canadian history is returning to Heritage Park Historical Village this January. Journey of a Lifetime, Presented by BMO Financial Group shares the stories of the people, places and journey involved in the largest wave of immigration in Canadian history.
The railway united Canada as a nation and no other rail car did more to settle the west than the wooden Colonist cars. During the first half of the 20th century, millions of immigrants travelled west aboard these bare bones cars to begin a new life on the prairies.
Journey of a Lifetime is an interactive exhibit that evokes the Colonist car experience and re-creates this incredible period in Canadian history.
The exhibit launched in Calgary in July, 2017, before heading across Canada on a successful, national tour. This January, Journey of a Lifetime returns to Gasoline Alley Museum for a limited time. Visitors can record and share their own immigration stories. They can learn about BMO’s role in settling Western Canada and delve deeper into this timely Canadian story through the compelling exhibit, informative displays and a variety of activities designed for all ages.
Journey of a Lifetime opens in Gasoline Alley Museum at 10 a.m. on January 23 and runs Tuesdays through Sundays until April 22. The exhibit is included with regular Museum admission. General Admission is $10.95, Youth (7-15) $6.95, Child (3-6) $5.65 and Senior $8.75. For more information please click here.
