Winter CARnival

December 27, 2017 - January 7, 2018

Gasoline Alley Museum, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
(Closes at 3:00 pm on Dec. 31. Closed Jan.1)

Feeling housebound over the holidays? Looking for a way to refuel and spend quality time with your family? Gather your visiting friends and relatives and head down to Heritage Park for the Winter CARnival at Gasoline Alley Museum.

Dash through the snow to our indoor Winter Carnival at Gasoline Alley and experience Winter around the World. Enjoy winter games and traditional New Year’s activities guaranteed to beat the cold, the heat or whatever the weather in your part of the globe. Bon Voyage!

• Tuho
This game is played in Korea during New Year’s festivities. See if you are skillful enough to toss your arrows into a pot.

• Antarctic Challenge
It's so cold that there are hardly any people in Antarctica – but there are penguins!  Can you do the Penguin Egg Transfer and the Penguin Walk?  Maybe even in a blizzard?

• Hooped!
Try our take on an African traditional favorite. Roll a hoop around a series of challenging obstacles without being knocked off course by your opponent.

• Peecho bakree
If you can walk and chew gum at the same time, maybe you can master this traditional game from India. It combines hopscotch with beanbag toss and it’s a cinch to keep you jumpin’.

• Winter Count
Return to traditional Blackfoot territory on the Canadian Prairies for this matching game. Try to match pictographs with historic events.

• Sapo
Travel to Peru and play a traditional coin toss game. See who can score the most points by hitting the frog to score a Sapo!

• Gone Fishing
It’s snowing here in Canada but in Australia is sunny and warm, perfect weather for Fishing! Try your luck at our fishing hole while discovering a few things about sea creatures of the South Pacific.

• End to End
What would winter be without a friendly game of curling? See if you can hit the button as you take part in this time honoured fan favorite.

• Wish You Were Here
Visit the Family gallery and create your very own custom postcard. Tell the folks back home about your global adventures.

• Messages to the Future
Were you here for Winter Carnival last year? Did you make a prediction about 2017? Drop by at Noon, December 27 and take part in the opening of our time capsule. Find out who was right after all.

Then, finish off your round the world tour with a little shopping at the Haskayne Mercantile Block and grab a bite to eat at the Railway Café.
