 Ages 11-14

Calling all ranch hands! Immerse yourself in the lifestyles and activities of settlers and ranchers at the turn-of-the-century as you spend the week at Heritage Park.  Each day, you may be called to help with chores at the ranch, learn to become a teamster or apprentice in a trade. Once the work is done, you might listen to traditional Blackfoot stories inside of a tipi, perform a play in the Canmore Opera House, or take part in a barn dance.

At night, your bunk house will be in the restored Burns' Barn, home of the Repsol Heritage Education Centre. Although providing a rustic feel, the barn includes modern facilities, heating and washrooms. Hearty meals and snacks are provided.

Home on the Range is a chance for campers to gain an appreciation of the past, and of the present, as they leave technology behind, slow down and enjoy the simple activities and pleasures of days gone by.

  • Explore the Park
  • Cook bannock in a First Nations Encampment
  • Take part in a drama production
  • Sing songs around a campfire
  • Attend an authentic barn dance with live fiddle music
  • Sleep in the Burns Barn bunkhouse, home of the Repsol Heritage Education Centre
