Music in the Plaza

Wednesday evenings, July 5 - August 30, 2017
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Heritage Town Square (front of the Park before the gates)
(Rainy Day Alternate Venue - Gasoline Alley Museum)

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, we’re presenting an all Canadian all star line up of outstanding performers. Every Wednesday evening throughout July and August, the Heritage Town Square will be filled with the sound of music. This year’s series of FREE concerts features a more diverse range of musical styles than ever. Each show kicks off with a performance by an up and coming star of tomorrow from the Stampede Talent Search followed by some of the best featured acts this great nation has to offer.

Performances are free of charge and take place before the Park gate in the Engineered Air Bandstand. If raining, concerts will be held in Gasoline Alley Museum.

Bring a blanket, pack a picnic or dine on the patio of the Selkirk Grille while enjoying two hours of live music. Heritage Park’s Railway Café will be offering a variety of sandwiches, bakery items and drinks (perfect for picnics). The unique shops of the Haskayne Mercantile Block will remain open and the Selkirk Grille’s patio is the perfect place to enjoy a frosty beverage, fine food and fabulous music – reservations required.

July 5 - Matt Masters
Calgary’s own Matt Masters has gone from “city guy to country crooner.” He has performed all over the world. His music has been heard in feature films and he’s back by popular demand for a second time to kick off Music in the Plaza, 2017.

July 12 - Kaleigh Jo Kirk
Kaleigh Jo has performed everywhere, from Hollywood California to the Calgary Stampede. She is among the most experienced singer/song writers on the scene today. This Canadian girl is poised to make her mark on the American music scene.

July 19 - Sunday Wilde & Reno Jack
This duo present an act that is reminiscent of jazz and blues from a bi-gone era.  Sunday is a singer and songwriter whose sound comes straight from the heart. She has performed in venues ranging from funeral parlours to festival stages and has recorded six albums of mostly original songs.

July 26 - Jim Hutchison Jazz Works
We know you like to dance, at least, some of you sure do. Here’s the perfect combo to move to or just sit and listen. Jazz Works performs distinctive arrangements of standards from swing to Latin to ballads.

August 2 - Michela Sheedy
Michela is taking the Canadian country music scene by storm, captivating audiences and leaving her mark, one laugh at a time. But this singer/songwriter has a serious side as well. Her performances feature a pure Albertan steely edge that is all her own.

August 9 - Clicquot Quartet
Sit back and enjoy the music of Claude Bolling's Jazz A la Francaise and Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio played by the Clicquot Trio & Quartet. Combining the elegance of Baroque with upbeat modern swing, this sophisticated and charming music is perfect for a summer's evening.

August 16 - Jenn Beaupre
She has appeared as a contestant on Canadian Idol and opened for the Moscow Ballet. Now, Jenn Beaupre brings her award winning vocal style to Heritage Park. Think Bette Midler meets Adele with a splash of Alanis Morissette.

August 23 - Cabot’s Crossing
The boys have a Celtic repertoire that is firmly rooted in east coast, Newfoundland and traditional Irish music. Their hard driving and energetic performance will have you singing, clapping and dancing along.

August 30 - Darcy Stamp
This dynamic classical crossover violinist has recorded and performed with a multitude of renowned artists including Josh Groban and George Canyon. His musical style ranges from classical to Celtic and folk to pop.

Please remember to leave your pets at home, and bring your friends and family to enjoy this lovely free evening of music. Rain or Shine.
