Rockin’ & Shoutin’ the Blues
Starring Boogie Piano Giant
Friday March 2, 2018 | 7:30 PM | Gasoline Alley Museum
David Vest’s bio reads like the history of rock n’ roll and blues. He’s among a select group that includes Ronnie Hawkins and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Although he now calls Canada home, David Vest is an authentic, Southern-bred boogie-woogie piano player, blues shouter and world-class entertainer. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, David grew up in Birmingham. His earliest influences included Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley and John Lee Hooker.
By the time he opened for Roy Orbison on New Year’s Day 1962, he was a seasoned veteran of Gulf Coast roadhouses and honky-tonks. In his early days, David toured and performed with Jerry Woodard and the Esquires, Ace Cannon, Bill Black’s Combo and the Jimmy Dorsey Band.
